In our spiritual life it is of the utmost importance that we hold the highest ideal as a beacon of light to guide us along the path - that ideal being the oneness of Soul with God, the Absolute. That being said, it is often hard for us to reconcile, or recognize the relevance of that highest of ideals with our day-to-day living. It is too easy for us to succumb to the erroneous notion that that moment of realization will occur at some distant point in time and has little or no bearing on our present life. Yoga is the goal and the means to achieving that goal; the way and the goal must be one. If we wish to reach that lofty realization of Oneness with God we must practice the presence of God in the here and now in every aspect of our lives. God abides with us always!

From the Gurus and Swamis: AUM

"Into my life, thou hast filled my existence with beauty and joy.
Every corner of my heart is permeated with thy divine presence,
And thy radiance reveals my true self unto me."

-- Swami Premananda, Prayers of Self-Realization

"To look back or forward to worse or better times is to keep the goal of consciousness confined to time limitations... The mystic knows there is no time but the eternal present and therefore lives happily NOW: "I am throughout time. I exist in eternity. Eternity is within me."

—Swami Kamalananda, Frontiers of the Spirit

"In waking, eating, working, dreaming, sleeping,
Serving, meditating, chanting, divinely loving,
My soul will constantly hum, unheard by any:
God! God! God!"

—Swami Yogananda, God! God! God!

Noble Thoughts:

"Prayer is an impossibility without a living faith in the presence of God within."

—M. K. Gandhi, Young India 20-12-1928

"Sudhana learned from his experience that there was true teaching to be gained from everything he saw and heard. . . . Indeed, those who seek for Enlightenment must think of their minds as castles and decorate them. They must open wide the gates of their minds for Buddha, and respectfully and humbly invite Him to enter the inmost chamber, there to offer Him the fragrant incense of faith and the flowers of gratitude and gladness."

—Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai, The Teachings of Buddha

"My God, since you are with me and since, by your will, I must occupy myself with external things, please grant me the grace to remain with you in your presence. Work with me, so that my work might be the very best. Receive as an offering of love both my work and all my affections."

—Brother Lawrence, The Practice of the Presence of God
