What is the greatest virtue, the highest law?
Ahimsa Paramo Dharma
If Ahimsa is the greatest virtue and the highest law, how does one practice Ahimsa?
Awareness of the indwelling spirit of God within oneself and one’s fellow beings, sets us on a path to practice Ahimsa.
“Ahimsa, in its positive form, means the largest love, the greatest charity. When ahimsa becomes all-embracing it transforms everything it touches. There is no limit to its power.”
—Mahatma Gandhi
“Ahimsa is universally applicable because it employs a principle which is cosmic and eternal—that of the unity of life…The meaning of ahimsa must first be known within the heart, then lived…The practice of ahimsa is as broad as life itself and consists of our daily efforts to convert the negative demands of our selfish ego into the positive expressions of the soul.”
—Srimati Kamala
