Sunday Bulletin

At this time of Diwali we set our sights on the light of the inner self that dispels all darkness. It illumines our mind, purifies our heart and enlightens our life. In the realization that within this body is a sacred shrine of light and life, our subjective meditation unfolds before us the wisdom of the light of the whole universe.

“Within the effulgent golden light of Sahasraram is revealed the One, the absolute Brahman. He is self-luminous, pure-consciousness. He is the Light of lights. He is the supreme Reality known to men of Self-realization.
There the sun rises not, nor do the moon and stars give light; there the lightening flashes not with flaming radiance; then how can this earthly fire of lighted wood reveal him who shines in the effulgence of his absolute glory? Everything shines by the reflection of his divine illumination. Verily, the whole universe is illumined by his light.”

Mundaka Upanishad, translated by Swami Premananda

”Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His light is like a niche in which there is a lamp, the lamp is in a glass, the glass is like a shining star, lit from ˹the oil of˺ a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow, even without being touched by fire. Light upon light! Allah guides whomever He wills to His light.”

Sura An-Nur, Qur’an
