Who or what teaches us the lessons of soul? Great teachers of all times have used parable and paradox to guide us to higher thought. In the Guru-Disciple tradition, guidance is offered through shared experience. Guru helps to dispel the darkness…by the light of self-knowledge, by inspiration awakened and revealed within the self.
“And Jesus stood still and called them, and said, what will you that I do unto you? They say unto him, that our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage unto the mount of olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, saying unto them, go into the village, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.”
—Matthew 20
”The inner welcoming of Christ consciousness is gradual and the way we are to do it within ourselves is expounded here, step by step. Our two eyes are the divine instruments to reveal the glory of God. The two blind men at the gate wanted Jesus as he stood before them, to open their eyes. We have two eyes of divine perception—intellect and intuition. Intellect is the light of God for our knowledge, reasoning, understanding. But that is not enough. There also must be intuition, which is vision of soul. Still that is not enough. Once our intellect and intuition are awakened, we must seek a different understanding of the revelation and glory of God. For this we need two disciples—the two disciples whom Jesus sent to bring to him the ass and her colt…Our eyes, the two blind men, must be opened. Then we must send forth the two disciples of wisdom and love.”
