In the life of constant activity, we come to recognize the law of causality. Every cause given has its effect. Though we think we know all the causes and conditions that lead to the results of our actions, there are always unknown circumstances.
Every stage in our spiritual unfoldment is the cause of a succeeding one. Yet, where is the line drawn between cause and effect? Each cause manifests as effect and then goes back to its original state before it starts over again. This imitates the existence of patches of cloud in the sky. They pass into the liquid form of rain and then go back to their vaporous state before they condense into water again.
“Desire is the cause, action is the effect. If we have caused a desire within our heart, it is sure to become fulfilled. Nothing can resist the fulfilment of a desire. Once the cause is given, it is sure to produce its result. It may be argued that often our desires fail to produce the expected results. This is true. The reason for this failure is that our desire does not receive the required potency to produce the result sought. Our desire is weak. It is weakened by many hindrances. These may be caused by multiplicity of desires, by wishing too many things at the same time. The restlessness of the mind furnishes a major obstacle. The power of a given desire is thus diffused before it can exert sufficient force to attain fulfilment. A concentrated and powerful desire is the most aggressive force toward attaining the ideal. It never fails. Project a wish, give it tremendous momentum with the one-pointed mind. It will touch all similar wishes in the universe, constantly increasing in its productive power, and finally it will come back with a well accomplished result. No good wish is ever lost. Give the world a good thought, and that thought will live eternally.”
