Sunday Bulletin
From time immemorial there have been countless stories of searching — from the “philosopher’s stone” or the Chintamani (or wish fulfilling jewel) to the lamp sought in “One Thousand and One Nights” and even “the tree of knowledge” — all illustrating a search for the much sought-after powers of wisdom and immortality that continually guide our desire. Inevitably, the journey that ensues gradually guides us in our search for the source of power within us.
“The wandering monk wanders along the path of life to reach what destination? And to attain what goal? The goal is known only to his intuition and not to his intellect. The young renunciate walks slowly. He is not in a hurry; he stops, casting his glance about and around and wondering about the mysterious mayaof nature, and then he resumes his known-unknown journey.”
—Swami Premananda, Prayers of Soul
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
—The New Testament of the Bible, Matthew 7:7-8
“My eyes traveled far and wide, til at last I shut them and said, ‘There thou art’.”
—Rabindranath Tagore
